Jedediah Shumway , the owner in 1909, was the builder of this one-and-a-half story, frame
crosswing home. He was a well read
rancher and cattleman, active in civic and church affairs. In 1942, the house was sold to
Julia E. Morris. Her husband,
Elgin Morris, came to Southern Utah to teach school in Fredonia, Arizona. He became the manager for the Southern
Utah Power Company, and later for California Pacific Electrical Company. The present owners are Jessica and
Michael Hand.
