James H. Swapp was the builder of this Second Empire house
with a mansard roof between 1890 and 1894. James Hill Swapp married Margaret Brinkerhoff and was called
to Kanab to help build the Kanab Dam in 1890. In 1898, James was elected to the office of sheriff, a
position he held for 12 years. The
present owners are Larson and Mignon Crosby.
